Google keyword planner is one of the best free tools for keyword research. It helps to know the search volume of a particular keyword, average monthly search and competition difficulty for that keyword.
In order to use this free tool, it is necessary that you have a Google Adwords account. You can’t simply access this tool with a direct link.
Don’t get thoughtful while you read “Adwords account“. You don’t need to create any paid campaign on your AdWords account. Create an Adwords account with your Gmail id and log in with the same credentials. On the top, find the ‘Wrench icon”.
When you click that tools icon, then you will find a handful of tools on your screen. You need to choose ‘Keywords planner’, your desired tool for keyword research.
After that, you will be taken to another screen where you need to select one of the options. Choose ‘Find keywords’.
As soon as you select that option, you will be prompted to type in any page URL or keyword or a key phrase to learn about. Type in any word that you want to research. That will be your seed keyword.
In the above screenshot, as you can see that I have typed “Samsung smart switch” as a seed keyword. Then I got the above metrics with more than 300 keyword ideas. See the search volume of the phrase. It is very high and the competition is also low enough to rank an article upon that phrase.
Similarly, the keyword planner suggested more keywords with each of their metrics regarding volume, CPC, Competition, Average monthly searches, impression share, and bid. If you want to earn revenue, work on those keywords which have high CPC and if you want to earn traffic, work on those keywords which have low competition.
Likewise, you can always filter the search results to get more related metrics. Like you can only have those keyword ideas which have low competition or only those which have a good CPC. Just set your range and apply filters to dive into the ocean of related keywords.

By using the Search console option of Google Webmaster tools, you can submit your sitemap to Google and know the indexing and crawl status of all your posts and pages.

No one knows better than Google as it is the largest and most popular search engine in the world. So, this is how you can know more about the topic you want to write using Google trends; You pick a topic/ keyword, go to Google Trends and type in that keyword to see its trends and stats.
You will then get the results for that keyword in the location that you set. If you want traffic from another location, you can set it to that location and see the trends again. You can also see how that keyword has performed in the past 7 days, past 30 days, past 12 months or past several years. If you want to narrow down the results, you can select the category and search again.
Likewise, if you want to find the statistics regarding image search or youtube search, then you can define that in the web search section.

As you can see that I have compared 4 different keywords to analyze which can perform better. I was indifferent on these four topics to create an article:

All these 4 keywords are similar in meaning, so by finding out what has trended in the past, I can plan for the next blog article in the future. In all the past 12 months, the keyword “create a website” has outranked all other keywords (the green curve). So, the same keyword might rank on the top this year too. So, now I can confidently create a blog post on the topic “create a website”.
